Summer Research Program

The Office of Graduate Studies (1100 Seaton Hall; phone: 472-2878) coordinates the Summer Research Program. The program offers outstanding undergraduates the chance to work closely with faculty whose expertise is closely related to the students' academic interests and career goals. This intensive summer research experience provides first-hand exposure to the experiences of graduate school and faculty life. During the eight-week summer program, students from around the country participate in discipline-specific research as they live on-campus and attend weekly events. Housing, meals, and travel are paid. Accepted scholars receive a stipend. The outcome of a student's research is a publishable paper. Selection is highly competitive and preference is for students who belong to groups historically underrepresented in graduate study and/or for students with advanced course work and one year remaining of undergraduate study. Applications are due early in the spring semester.
